8 common questions answered

What are the known NHTSA recalls for a 2021 Toyota 4Runner?
The NHTSA has issued 22 recalls affecting the 2021 Toyota 4Runner across fuel pump, air bag, hood, hood scoop, tail pipe, label, and accessory equipment components. Key safety issues include potential fuel pump failure that can cause engine stall and air bag inflator defects that may rupture and send fragments into the cabin. These recalls come from manufacturer and distributor actions recorded by NHTSA; Nalley Toyota of Roswell can verify and perform required repairs free of charge.
How do I check if my 2021 Toyota 4Runner has an open recall?
You can check open recalls by entering your VIN on NHTSA.gov or bring your VIN to Nalley Toyota of Roswell for a free check. Call our service team or schedule service and we will confirm any open campaigns and advise next steps. We also keep records from NHTSA and Toyota and will notify you if additional manufacturer remedies become available.

Recall repairs for manufacturer-issued campaigns are free of charge to the vehicle owner. Nalley Toyota of Roswell will perform required recall repairs using OEM parts and factory-trained technicians at no cost under Toyota’s recall program. If you need other non-recall maintenance, ask about our service specials and service financing to help pay for additional recommended work.
Can I get my 2021 Toyota 4Runner recall fixed at an independent shop or do I need a dealer?
Manufacturer recall repairs must be completed by a certified franchise dealer to ensure OEM parts and proper remedy procedures are used; visit your local certified Toyota dealer for recall service. How long does a 2021 Toyota 4Runner recall repair take?
Repair time varies by recall: some fixes take under an hour while others require parts and may take longer; your dealer will provide a time estimate when you schedule appointment. Nalley Toyota of Roswell prioritizes safety campaigns and offers convenient scheduling, loaner options, and service financing for any additional work.
Does an open recall affect my 2021 Toyota 4Runner's trade-in or resale value?
Yes. Unresolved recalls can lower trade-in offers and deter private buyers who check NHTSA recall status before purchase. Resolving recalls at a certified dealer like Nalley Toyota of Roswell protects vehicle value and marketability; we can assist with a trade-in appraisal via our sell your car online service. We recommend resolving recalls before listing or trading your vehicle to maximize value and avoid buyer concerns.
Can I fail a state inspection because of an unresolved 2021 Toyota 4Runner recall?
Yes—some states and inspection programs may fail vehicles if a safety-related recall affects components inspected for operational safety. Because recalls such as air bag inflator defects or fuel pump failures directly impact safety, addressing them promptly at a certified dealer helps ensure compliance with inspections and may prevent registration issues. If you need immediate help, schedule service with Nalley Toyota of Roswell; ask about our service financing and current service specials.
