Frequently Asked Questions

12 common questions answered

What are the known NHTSA recalls for a 2018 Toyota Tundra?
The NHTSA has issued 34 recall entries affecting the 2018 Toyota Tundra, covering components like airbags, fuel pump/fuel tank, wheels/lugnuts, bumpers, wiring harness, and load-carrying labels. Notable recalls include air bag ECU software updates (recall J0X), fuel pump/fuel tank interim notices (20TA02 / 20TB02), wiring harness/LED headlight turn-signal modifications (20TB12/20TA12), wheel lugnut replacements (SET17A), and resin bumper reinforcement replacements (H0C). All recall details are sourced from NHTSA records; if you have questions about a specific campaign we can review your VIN and provide exact recall notices.
How do I check if my 2018 Toyota Tundra has an open recall?
You can check your vehicle by entering its VIN at NHTSA.gov or bring your truck to Nalley Toyota of Roswell for a free dealer VIN check. If you prefer, call our service team or schedule service and we will verify open recalls at no charge using OEM diagnostic tools. We also provide guidance on recall letters, timelines for remedies, and interim safety steps if a remedy part is not yet available.
How much does a 2018 Toyota Tundra recall repair cost?
Recall repairs for the 2018 Toyota Tundra are performed free of charge by the manufacturer through authorized dealers like Nalley Toyota of Roswell. There is no cost for parts or labor for factory-issued recall remedies; if additional non-recall repairs are identified, we will provide authorization before proceeding. We offer service financing to help with non-recall work so you can get necessary repairs done now and pay over time, and we list current offers on our service specials page.
Can I get my 2018 Toyota Tundra recall fixed at an independent shop or do I need a dealer?
Manufacturer recall repairs must be performed by an authorized franchise dealer to ensure OEM parts, factory diagnostic procedures, and warranty traceability; we strongly recommend using your local certified Toyota dealer. Nalley Toyota of Roswell uses factory-trained technicians, OEM parts, and official Toyota software updates—this protects safety systems and maintains manufacturer records of the remedy. If a recall remedy requires special parts or software (for example J0X air bag ECU software or the 20TA02 fuel pump assembly), only a certified dealer can apply the official fix and record it in the manufacturer database.
How long does a 2018 Toyota Tundra recall repair take?
Repair time varies: software updates or wiring harness modifications often take an hour or two, while parts-based repairs (fuel pump, bumper reinforcement, wheel lugnuts) depend on part availability and may take longer. Nalley Toyota of Roswell will provide an estimated turnaround when you schedule service, and we can often accommodate same-day service for simple remedies. If remedy parts are not yet available (for example some bumper reinforcement campaigns), we will place your vehicle on the dealer waiting list and notify you as soon as the part arrives.
Does an open recall affect my 2018 Toyota Tundra's trade-in or resale value?
Yes—unresolved recalls can negatively affect trade-in or resale value because some buyers and lenders check NHTSA records and dealer service history before purchase. Having recalls resolved at a franchise dealer like Nalley Toyota of Roswell protects value, shows full compliance, and can speed sale or appraisal; start the process by visiting our trade-in/appraisal page. We will document completed recall work on manufacturer records so your vehicle’s history reflects the completed remedies, which reassures buyers and preserves resale value.
Can I fail a state inspection because of an unresolved 2018 Toyota Tundra recall?
Some recalls (for example turn-signal brightness or load/capacity label inaccuracies) can result in inspection failures if they affect required safety equipment or labels in your state. Nalley Toyota of Roswell can verify open recalls and perform necessary remedies to ensure your vehicle complies with inspection rules for Roswell, Alpharetta, and the greater Atlanta area. If you’re due for inspection and concerned about an open recall, schedule appointment and our service advisors will prioritize safety-related recalls to keep you compliant.
