Frequently Asked Questions

8 common questions answered

What are the known NHTSA recalls for a 2018 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid?
The NHTSA has issued five recalls that relate to RAV4 and RAV4 Hybrid vehicles, covering steering, power steering, front lower control arms, engine casting porosity, and spare tire inflation. These campaigns include a steering column breakaway pin issue that can affect air bag performance, an electric power steering gear box that may lose assist if water intrudes, front lower suspension arm cracking, porosity in certain 2.5L engine castings that can cause coolant leaks and engine damage, and an incorrectly set spare tire pressure. Not every recall applies to every year and VIN; please check your VIN to confirm applicability before scheduling.
How do I check if my 2018 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid has an open recall?
Check your VIN on NHTSA.gov or bring the vehicle to our service department and we will verify your recall status for free. You can enter your VIN at NHTSA.gov or call Toyota customer service numbers listed in official campaigns; alternatively, bring your VIN to Nalley Toyota of Roswell and we will check and explain any open campaigns at no charge. If you prefer immediate help, schedule service and our team will confirm recalls and advise next steps.
How much does a 2018 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid recall repair cost?
Manufacturer recall repairs are free of charge when performed at an authorized Toyota dealership. Toyota covers parts and labor for these recall campaigns; Nalley Toyota of Roswell will perform required repairs at no cost under the manufacturer program. If additional non-recall work is needed, ask about our current service specials and service financing options to help pay for necessary maintenance.
Can I get my 2018 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid recall fixed at an independent shop or do I need a dealer?
Recall repairs must be performed by an authorized dealer to ensure OEM parts and factory procedures are used, and to guarantee the repair is recorded properly with the manufacturer. Nalley Toyota of Roswell is a certified Toyota franchise dealership with factory-trained technicians, OEM parts, and Toyota diagnostic equipment—this is the safest and most reliable place to handle recall repairs. Schedule a free VIN check and repair by visiting our schedule service page; we also offer service financing if you need flexible payment options.
How long does a 2018 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid recall repair take?
Repair times vary by campaign but many recall fixes take a few hours; some engine or suspension repairs may require longer or parts ordering. For example, steering column or power steering gear box replacements are typically completed same-day or within one service appointment when parts are in stock; engine replacement may take longer due to parts availability and inspection requirements. To get an estimated turnaround, schedule appointment with Nalley Toyota of Roswell and we will provide a realistic time estimate and loaner options when available.
Does an open recall affect my 2018 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid's trade-in or resale value?
An unresolved recall can negatively impact trade-in value and buyer confidence because many dealers and private buyers check recall status before purchase. Resolving recalls at a certified dealer like Nalley Toyota of Roswell documents the repair with the manufacturer and protects resale value—buyers prefer vehicles with completed recall history and OEM repairs. Visit our trade-in page to start an appraisal: sell your car online, and ensure recalls are cleared before you sell for maximum offer value.
Can I fail a state inspection because of an unresolved 2018 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid recall?
Open recalls are a safety concern and can affect inspections or insurance claims depending on the defect and state rules. While not all recalls automatically fail an emissions or safety inspection, serious issues like steering, suspension, or engine defects can result in failed safety checks—it's safer to have recalls addressed promptly. Nalley Toyota of Roswell can check your vehicle and complete required repairs; schedule service and ask about our service financing and current service specials.
