Frequently Asked Questions

8 common questions answered

What are the known NHTSA recalls for a 2018 Toyota Corolla?
The NHTSA records show 28 recall entries affecting the 2018 Toyota Corolla across multiple systems, with the most common issues involving the air bag system, fuel pump, and load-carrying labels. Major components impacted include the air bag electronic control unit (ECU) and inflators, fuel pump assemblies that may stall the engine, seat belt locking mechanisms, spare tire pressure, windshield wiper switch, and load-carrying capacity labels. NHTSA recall remedies range from ECU inspections and noise‑filter installs, fuel pump replacements, to corrected labels and inflator or inflator-assembly replacements; all recall repairs are provided free by Toyota dealers.
How do I check if my 2018 Toyota Corolla has an open recall?
Use your vehicle VIN at NHTSA.gov or bring your VIN to Nalley Toyota of Roswell and we will check for open recalls at no charge. You can also call Toyota customer service at 1-888-270-9371 for manufacturer confirmation, or visit our service department and we will verify using OEM diagnostic tools. If a recall is open we'll explain the defect, the safety consequence, and book a free repair appointment; to schedule service click the link or call our service team.
How much does a 2018 Toyota Corolla recall repair cost?
Recall repairs for the 2018 Toyota Corolla are free of charge when performed under the manufacturer's recall program at a certified Toyota dealer. Nalley Toyota of Roswell uses factory-trained technicians and OEM parts for all recall work so there are no out-of-pocket costs for the required remedy. If additional non-recall repairs are requested, we offer service specials and financing options to help manage costs—see our service specials.
Can I get my 2018 Toyota Corolla recall fixed at an independent shop or do I need a dealer?
Manufacturer recall repairs must be completed by an authorized franchise dealer to ensure OEM parts, proper programming, and warranty compliance; independent shops cannot perform official recall remedies that require manufacturer parts or reprogramming. NHTSA and Toyota direct owners to certified dealerships for remedies that may include software updates, safety-critical part replacements, or inspections that require factory diagnostic tools and training. Nalley Toyota of Roswell is a factory-authorized dealer with trained technicians, and we provide free recall repairs—book online to schedule service.
How long does a 2018 Toyota Corolla recall repair take?
Repair time varies by recall: many inspections and minor part installs take under an hour, while component replacements like fuel pumps or inflators may require several hours or a day. When you arrive Nalley Toyota of Roswell will provide an estimated turnaround based on the specific recall remedy; we use OEM parts and factory procedures to complete work correctly the first time. To minimize wait time, please schedule service in advance; we also list current offers on our service specials page.
Does an open recall affect my 2018 Toyota Corolla's trade-in or resale value?
An unresolved recall can negatively affect trade-in and resale value because many buyers and dealers check NHTSA records and prefer vehicles with completed recalls. Resolving recalls at Nalley Toyota of Roswell with dealer-stamped service records preserves value and provides buyer confidence; we also link recall completion to our trade appraisal process. If you are considering selling, get your recalls fixed first and then request an appraisal via our trade-in page to protect vehicle value.
Can I fail a state inspection because of an unresolved 2018 Toyota Corolla recall?
Open recalls are safety issues tracked by NHTSA and while they don't automatically fail most state emissions tests, certain safety-related recalls (like airbags or braking systems) can lead to inspection or registration complications in some states. Resolving recalls promptly removes any potential barrier to inspection or registration and reduces risk of safety failures; Nalley Toyota of Roswell will verify and complete required recall work for free. To avoid inspection delays, schedule service and review available service specials; we also offer service financing if you need to pay over time.
