8 common questions answered

What are the known NHTSA recalls for a 2017 Toyota Prius c?
The NHTSA has issued 2 recalls that may affect the 2017 Toyota Prius c, one for the tire pressure monitoring system and one affecting the hybrid propulsion DC-DC converter. The TPMS recall (SET15E) covers some 2015-built Prius C vehicles with improper calibration that may not warn of low tire pressure; dealers will re-calibrate the system free of charge. The hybrid propulsion recall (K0K) covers certain Prius C model years with a possible DC-DC converter failure that can cause loss of drive; Toyota will replace the converter free of charge. These recalls are documented in NHTSA records and the remedies are performed at no cost to owners through authorized dealers like Nalley Toyota of Roswell.
How do I check if my 2017 Toyota Prius c has an open recall?
The fastest way is to check your VIN at NHTSA.gov or bring your VIN to our service team and we will check for free. You can also call Toyota customer service or the SET number listed in NHTSA bulletins; our service advisors at Nalley Toyota of Roswell will verify open recalls for you and explain next steps. If you prefer, schedule service online and we will run the VIN check during your appointment at no cost.
How much does a 2017 Toyota Prius c recall repair cost?
Recall repairs for the 2017 Toyota Prius c are performed free of charge under the manufacturer recall program. Both TPMS re-calibration and DC-DC converter replacement (when applicable) are covered by the recall and will not incur parts or labor charges at a certified Toyota dealer. If additional non-recall maintenance is requested, ask our advisors about current service specials and available service financing to pay over time.
Can I get my 2017 Toyota Prius c recall fixed at an independent shop or do I need a dealer?
Manufacturer recall repairs must be performed by an authorized dealer to ensure OEM parts, factory procedures, and free recall coverage are properly applied. Independent shops cannot guarantee OEM replacement parts or access to manufacturer repair updates that may be required during recall work; Nalley Toyota of Roswell uses factory-trained technicians and Toyota diagnostic tools to ensure a proper repair. To protect warranty, safety, and resale value, we recommend you schedule service at your local certified Toyota dealer — we also offer service financing if needed.
How long does a 2017 Toyota Prius c recall repair take?
Most recall repairs, such as TPMS re-calibration, can be completed in under an hour, while parts replacement like a DC-DC converter may take longer depending on parts availability. At Nalley Toyota of Roswell our team will provide an estimated turnaround time when you schedule appointment, and we prioritize safety-critical recalls to minimize your downtime. If your recall requires parts, we will notify you immediately and may offer a loaner or alternate transportation options depending on availability.
Does an open recall affect my 2017 Toyota Prius c's trade-in or resale value?
An unresolved recall can negatively impact trade-in and resale value because dealers and buyers often check NHTSA records before purchase. Resolving recalls at an authorized dealer like Nalley Toyota of Roswell protects your vehicle’s market value and provides documented proof of completed factory repairs. For a no-obligation appraisal, visit our trade-in page or use our online tool at sell your car online and ask our team how completed recall work preserves your resale value.
Can I fail a state inspection because of an unresolved 2017 Toyota Prius c recall?
Open recalls do not always cause automatic inspection failure, but certain safety-related recalls (like TPMS that fails to warn of low tire pressure) can lead to inspection issues depending on state requirements. Because recalls can affect safety systems, we recommend having any open recall addressed promptly at Nalley Toyota of Roswell to avoid inspection or insurance complications. Call or schedule service with our certified technicians if you have an inspection coming up; we also have current service specials and financing options to help.
