Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

8 common questions answered

What are the known NHTSA recalls for a 2016 Toyota Prius v?
The NHTSA has issued 9 recalls in the provided records affecting the 2016 Toyota Prius v, primarily involving the hybrid propulsion system, air bag OCS, and aftermarket tail lights. Major issues include excessive voltage in the Intelligent Power Module (IPM) within the hybrid inverter that can cause the hybrid system to shut down and stall the vehicle, an improperly calibrated occupant classification system (OCS) that can prevent passenger air bag deployment, and certain aftermarket tail lights with reversed circuits. Corrective actions in NHTSA records show dealer software updates, ECU/hybrid system repairs or replacements, OCS recalibration, and replacement of affected aftermarket tail lamps — all remedies are documented as free to owners.
How do I check if my 2016 Toyota Prius v has an open recall?
You can check your VIN on NHTSA.gov to confirm open recalls immediately and for free. If you prefer local help, call Nalley Toyota of Roswell or bring your VIN to our service center and our factory-trained technicians will confirm recall status at no charge and explain required repairs. To act now, schedule service online and we will verify recall history, advise next steps, and perform any recall work with OEM parts under the manufacturer program.
How much does a 2016 Toyota Prius v recall repair cost?
Manufacturer recall repairs for the 2016 Toyota Prius v are free of charge to the vehicle owner. Toyota covers the remedy costs when a recall is issued; Nalley Toyota of Roswell will perform the work using OEM parts and factory-trained technicians at no cost under the recall campaign. We also offer service specials (service specials) and service financing if you need additional non-recall maintenance at the same visit.
Can I get my 2016 Toyota Prius v recall fixed at an independent shop or do I need a dealer?
Recall repairs should be performed at a certified franchise dealer to ensure OEM parts, proper software updates, and warranty-compliant repairs. While some independent shops may perform recalls under contract, a franchise Toyota dealer like Nalley Toyota of Roswell guarantees factory-trained technicians, OEM diagnostic tools, and documented manufacturer remedies that preserve your vehicle’s safety record. For secure, warranty-safe recall repair and documentation, schedule service with Nalley Toyota of Roswell — recall repairs are free and we offer service financing if needed.
How long does a 2016 Toyota Prius v recall repair take?
Most software-based hybrid inverter and ECU updates for the 2016 Toyota Prius v take between 1–3 hours, depending on dealer scheduling and whether additional repairs or inverter replacement are required. If an inverter assembly must be repaired or replaced (documented in some NHTSA records), the visit may take longer; our service team will provide an estimated turnaround when you arrive or when you schedule appointment. Nalley Toyota of Roswell prioritizes recall work, offers convenient appointment times, and posts current service specials (service specials) to reduce your total downtime.
Does an open recall affect my 2016 Toyota Prius v's trade-in or resale value?
An unresolved recall can negatively impact trade-in or resale value because dealerships and buyers often check NHTSA records or the VIN for open safety campaigns. Having recalls completed at a certified dealer like Nalley Toyota of Roswell protects resale value, simplifies trade-in processing, and provides documentation buyers require; you can start an appraisal at our trade-in page. We recommend resolving recalls promptly to avoid negotiation reductions and to maintain vehicle safety and insurability when selling or trading your vehicle.
Can I fail a state inspection because of an unresolved 2016 Toyota Prius v recall?
State inspection rules vary, but safety-related open recalls—especially those affecting airbags or braking/lighting—can complicate inspections or registration in some jurisdictions. The hybrid inverter recalls and the air bag OCS recall noted by NHTSA present safety risks; resolving those recalls at Nalley Toyota of Roswell ensures compliance with safety expectations and reduces the chance of inspection issues. If you're concerned about inspection or registration, schedule service and our staff will verify recalls and advise on any state-specific requirements.
