Frequently Asked Questions

8 common questions answered

What are the known NHTSA recalls for a 2016 Toyota Prius c?
The NHTSA has issued 2 recalls that affect the Prius c model line; these involve the Tire Pressure Monitoring System and the hybrid propulsion DC‑DC converter. One recall (SET15E) concerns TPMS calibration that may not warn drivers of low tire pressure and applies to certain Prius c model-year vehicles produced in a specific production window; driving on underinflated tires can cause tire failure and increase crash risk. Another recall (K0K) covers the DC‑DC converter in some Prius c hybrids where a converter failure can interrupt power to the auxiliary battery and may cause a loss of drive. All recall details are recorded with the NHTSA and we recommend confirming your VIN status with our team or via the NHTSA database.
How do I check if my 2016 Toyota Prius c has an open recall?
Use your vehicle VIN on NHTSA.gov or contact Nalley Toyota of Roswell to confirm open recalls for your 2016 Toyota Prius c. You can call our service department or bring your VIN to the dealership; we will check NHTSA records and manufacturer bulletins at no charge. To save time, you can schedule service online and we will verify recall status when you arrive.
How much does a 2016 Toyota Prius c recall repair cost?
Manufacturer recall repairs are performed free of charge at authorized dealerships, including Nalley Toyota of Roswell. If a recall repair requires parts or labor under a manufacturer campaign, Toyota covers the cost and we process that at no cost to you. If you need other non‑recall maintenance, ask about our current service specials and available service financing to pay over time.
Can I get my 2016 Toyota Prius c recall fixed at an independent shop or do I need a dealer?
Recall repairs must be completed by an authorized franchise dealer to ensure OEM parts and official repair procedures; we recommend using a certified Toyota dealer like Nalley Toyota of Roswell. Factory-trained technicians use OEM diagnostics and original parts to preserve safety, warranty, and resale value—independent shops cannot always perform manufacturer recall campaigns under the recall warranty process. To avoid denied reimbursement or incomplete repairs, contact us to schedule service for recall work.
How long does a 2016 Toyota Prius c recall repair take?
Typical recall repairs such as TPMS recalibration or a DC‑DC converter replacement usually take between one and a few hours, but exact times vary by the specific remedy and parts availability. When you schedule appointment, we will provide an estimated turnaround based on the recall campaign and current parts status. We prioritize fast, safe service for Roswell and surrounding customers; ask about loaner vehicles or local shuttle options when you book.
Does an open recall affect my 2016 Toyota Prius c's trade-in or resale value?
Yes—open recalls can negatively affect trade-in and resale value because many buyers and dealers check NHTSA records before purchase. Resolving recalls at a certified dealer like Nalley Toyota of Roswell protects value and provides documented proof of completed manufacturer repairs. Visit our trade appraisal page to get an estimate after your recall work is completed: sell-your-car-online.
Can I fail a state inspection because of an unresolved 2016 Toyota Prius c recall?
Some safety recalls—especially those affecting braking, steering, or propulsion—can impact inspection outcomes; unresolved recalls may be flagged during dealer or state safety checks. The TPMS recall may affect compliance with FMVSS 138 in specific vehicles; if your state inspection cites a safety system issue, schedule recall service immediately. Book an appointment online to have us inspect and address recall-related items so your vehicle meets inspection requirements.
