8 common questions answered

What are the known NHTSA recalls for a 2013 Toyota RAV4 EV?
The NHTSA has issued 6 recalls affecting the 2013 Toyota RAV4 EV covering seat belts, windshield wipers, and the electric propulsion system. Those recalls include a seat-belt cut risk from the rear seat cushion frame, potential wiper-linkage corrosion that can stop the wipers, and a traction motor software issue that can cause loss of drive power. Nalley Toyota of Roswell references NHTSA records and performs all manufacturer-recommended repairs free of charge.
How do I check if my 2013 Toyota RAV4 EV has an open recall?
You can check open recalls by entering your VIN at NHTSA.gov or bring your vehicle to Nalley Toyota of Roswell for a free VIN check. If you prefer immediate help, call our service team or schedule service and we will verify recalls and recommend next steps at no cost. How much does a 2013 Toyota RAV4 EV recall repair cost?
Recall repairs for the 2013 Toyota RAV4 EV are free of charge when performed under the manufacturer recall program. Nalley Toyota of Roswell uses OEM parts and factory-trained technicians, so there is no out-of-pocket cost for recall repairs; any additional non-recall work will be quoted in advance. We also offer service financing and occasional service specials for approved repairs outside the recall scope.
Can I get my 2013 Toyota RAV4 EV recall fixed at an independent shop or do I need a dealer?
Recall repairs must be performed by an authorized dealer to ensure free, manufacturer-approved repairs and preservation of warranty and safety compliance; we recommend a franchise dealer like Nalley Toyota of Roswell. Independent shops may not have the OEM parts, factory software updates, or access to manufacturer recall procedures required to complete some recall repairs correctly. If you want manufacturer-authorized recall service near Roswell, GA, schedule appointment with our factory-trained team.
How long does a 2013 Toyota RAV4 EV recall repair take?
Repair time varies by recall — typical corrective actions (seat-belt protectors, wiper linkage replacement, or software updates) often take 1–3 hours, but some repairs can require parts ordering. Nalley Toyota of Roswell will provide an estimated turnaround when you schedule service; we prioritize safety and quick completion using OEM parts and trained technicians. We recommend scheduling ahead; our service advisors can arrange loaner vehicles or courtesy transport within the Roswell area when available.
Does an open recall affect my 2013 Toyota RAV4 EV's trade-in or resale value?
An unresolved recall can negatively affect trade-in value and buyer confidence because dealers and private buyers often check NHTSA records before purchase. Having recalls completed at Nalley Toyota of Roswell protects resale value and shows documented manufacturer repairs, and we can help with a quick appraisal at our trade-in portal. To begin, visit our trade-in page to get an estimate: sell your car online.
Can I fail a state inspection because of an unresolved 2013 Toyota RAV4 EV recall?
Some recalls affect safety equipment that could cause a vehicle to fail inspection if the defect impairs required systems like seat belts or windshield wipers. Because recalls address safety-critical components, we urge owners to have open recalls remedied promptly at a certified dealer like Nalley Toyota of Roswell to avoid inspection or insurance issues. Defect

Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain model year 2009-2012 RAV4 vehicles manufactured October 27, 2008, to December 19, 2012 and 2012-2014 RAV4 EV vehicles manufactured July 24, 2012, to August 29, 2014. In the affected vehicles, water may drip onto the joint that connects the wiper linkage to the wiper motor.

Consequence

Over time, the dripping water may cause corrosion and wear at the joint, potentially resulting in the separation of the wiper linkage. Once this occurs, the wipers would not function, reducing driver visibility and increasing the risk of a crash.

Corrective Action

Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will replace the water diverter channel. In addition, a new wiper linkage with a wiper motor crank arm will be installed. The wiper linkage will have a protective cover over the wiper linkage joint to minimize water splash and a retainer ring to prevent the wiper arm from separating from the wiper motor. The recall is expected to begin by November 16, 2015. Owners may contact Toyota's customer service number at 1-800-331-4331.
