Frequently Asked Questions

12 common questions answered

What are the known NHTSA recalls for a 2010 Toyota Camry?
The NHTSA lists 34 recall entries affecting the 2010 Toyota Camry covering windshield wipers, electrical systems, steering, fuel systems, air bag systems and more. Key safety items include windshield wiper switch shorts (may cause wipers to stop), A/C drain leaks that can affect the air bag control module, fuel pump or fuel line issues that may cause engine stall or fuel leaks, and air bag occupant classification or fastening issues that can affect deployment. All listed recalls originate from NHTSA records; Nalley Toyota of Roswell can verify open recalls for your VIN and perform any required repairs at no cost.
How do I check if my 2010 Toyota Camry has an open recall?
You can check recalls by entering your VIN at NHTSA.gov or bring your vehicle to Nalley Toyota of Roswell and we will check for free. If you prefer dealer assistance, call us or bring your vehicle and our service team will confirm any open recalls and explain required repairs. To quickly book a check, schedule service online and tell us you need a recall VIN check.
How much does a 2010 Toyota Camry recall repair cost?
Recall repairs for the 2010 Toyota Camry are free of charge when performed under the manufacturer's recall program. Repairs that are part of a NHTSA-registered recall are performed using OEM parts and covered by Toyota — Nalley Toyota of Roswell absorbs no charge to you for the remedy. If additional non-recall maintenance is recommended, ask about our current service specials and available service financing to pay over time.
Can I get my 2010 Toyota Camry recall fixed at an independent shop or do I need a dealer?
Manufacturer recall repairs must be completed by a certified franchise dealer to guarantee OEM parts and factory-backed remedies; Nalley Toyota of Roswell is a certified Toyota franchise dealer. Independent shops cannot perform official manufacturer recall remedies that update safety systems in a way that preserves factory coverage and documentation for NHTSA records. For safety and warranty traceability, bring your vehicle to your local certified Toyota dealer — the recommended option is to schedule service with Nalley Toyota of Roswell.
How long does a 2010 Toyota Camry recall repair take?
Most recall repairs take anywhere from 30 minutes to a few hours, but some engine or fuel system work can require longer; typical turnarounds are given at check-in. Nalley Toyota of Roswell will confirm expected repair time when you schedule appointment, and we prioritize safety recalls to minimize your downtime. If parts are on backorder, we will notify you and offer interim safety guidance and a loaner program or rental recommendations when available.
Does an open recall affect my 2010 Toyota Camry's trade-in or resale value?
An unresolved recall can lower resale or trade-in value because buyers and dealers review NHTSA recall status before purchase. Resolving recalls at a factory dealer like Nalley Toyota of Roswell protects resale value and provides official repair records you can show prospective buyers or trade-in appraisers. When you're ready to trade, start with our online trade page at sell your car online after any recall work is completed for best valuation.
Can I fail a state inspection because of an unresolved 2010 Toyota Camry recall?
Some recalls affect components that can impact safety inspections; depending on state rules, an unresolved safety recall could cause an inspection failure. Common inspection-impacting items include brakes, airbags, airbags control modules, and fuel system defects noted in NHTSA records. We recommend resolving any open recalls before inspection; book service now to avoid inspection delays and ask about our service specials and financing.
Safety Risks You Can't Ignore
The 2010 Toyota Camry has multiple recalls that can directly affect your safety on the road, and addressing them promptly can prevent hazardous outcomes. Examples from NHTSA records include windshield wiper switch assemblies that may short and render wipers inoperative, creating reduced visibility in rain; A/C drain hose clogging that can allow water to reach the air bag control module and cause an unexpected deployment or disable airbags; and fuel delivery or fuel pump issues that can cause a stall or fuel leak and increase fire risk. Electrical System1
FREE1 OPEN RECALL

Defect

Toyota is recalling certain model year 2012-2013 Avalon, Avalon HV, Venza, Camry, and Camry HV vehicles. In the affected vehicles, the drain hose for the air conditioning condenser may become clogged causing water to accumulate at the bottom of the air conditioning condenser unit housing. The accumulated water may then leak through a seam in the housing onto the air bag control module potentially resulting in a short circuit of the module.

Consequence

A short circuit may cause the air bags to become disabled or inadvertently deploy. An inadvertent airbag deployment can increase the risk of injury or the possibility of a crash. An inoperative airbag can increase the risk of injury in a severe crash. The power steering assist could also become inoperable resulting in increased steering effort and can increase the risk of a crash at low speeds.

Corrective Action

Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will seal the air conditioning condenser unit housing and install a protective cover on the airbag control module, free of charge. The recall began on February 5, 2014. Owners may contact Toyota at 1-800-331-4331.
