Exterior & Interior

This is the ultimate expression of luxury and capability. The redesigned 2016 Land Cruise makes an impression wherever it goes with its legendary off-road prowess and bold new exterior details. A revised front end, LED lighting and chrome side moldings with the Land Cruiser logo help give this SUV an unmistakable presence. So whether you're traversing uncharted terrain, or enjoying a night on the town, you can rest assured that you'll always arrive in style.

Land Cruiser's leather-trimmed steering wheel is not only heated, it features controls for the audio system, Multi-Information Display and Bluetooth®1 wireless technology. Land Cruiser's dashboard is ready to help you take command of your next journey. A sleek new design incorporates a large, high-resolution touch-screen display and updated, intuitive controls. And it all comes finished with the exceptional quality you have come to expect from Land Cruiser. And with four-zone automatic climate control, the driver, front passenger, and two second-row passengers can control their own environments with the help of 28 vents located throughout the cabin. On extremely cold days, a Positive Temperature Coefficient heater warms air instantly by passing it over an electrically heated ceramic element.

Technology & Convenience

Land Cruiser's EntuneTM Premium JBL® Audio with Integrated Navigation2 and App Suite3 gives you a high-end entertainment experience. Its high-resolution 9-in. touch-screen display lets you access the integrated navigation system, your music and more. SiriusXM® Satellite Radio4 compatibility and iPod®5 connectivity means you'll always have the perfect soundtrack to your adventure. And with 14 JBL Synthesis® speakers, including a subwoofer and amplifier, it will all sound amazing too.

Expeditions often require the assistance of an entire crew. Fortunately, Land Cruiser's spacious cabin offers seating for up to eight. And everyone can ride in comfort, thanks to multi-stage heated and ventilated front seats, a multi-stage heated 40/20/40 split second-row seat with center armrest, and a 50/50 split third-row seat. With the third- and second-row seats folded, you'll be greeted by a cavernous 81.7 cubic feet of cargo capacity.6 So the next time you're wondering if that super-size, bargain-price flat screen will fit, the answer is probably yes. And with the center console cooler box, you can leave the ice chest at home. Land Cruiser's center console features a cooler box that can easily accommodate beverages and snacks.

Performance & Capability

With power comes confidence. Land Cruiser's Double Overhead Cam (DOHC) 32-valve V8 develops 381 horsepower and 401 lb.-ft. of torque, but that's only part of the story. Technologies such as Dual Independent Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT-i) and an Acoustic Control Induction System (ACIS) help maximize useable power throughout the rpm range, giving you unrivaled capability. Land Cruiser's 8-speed Electronically Controlled automatic Transmission with intelligence (ECT-i) is not your average transmission. It adjusts shift logic depending on throttle input, vehicle speed and incline for efficient power delivery in a variety of conditions. It also features a sequential shift mode so you can select the gears manually if desired. True to its off-road heritage, Land Cruiser is built on a rugged 10-member high-tensile steel ladder frame for reduced flex and enhanced durability. Land Cruiser rides on an independent double-wishbone suspension with coil springs and stabilizer bar up front, and a 4-link rear suspension with coil springs, stabilizer bar and semi-floating axle in the rear. It's a proven system that has stood the test of time.

Demanding off-road situations often make you wish you could check your immediate surroundings for potential trouble. With the Multi-terrain Monitor7, you can. Simply press a button to display front, rear and side camera views on the 9-in. navigation screen. The Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System (KDSS) helps keep optimal traction, no matter how uneven the terrain is. When activated, KDSS automatically disconnects the sway bar and adjusts the suspension system for better wheel articulation. So when the road ahead looks challenging, Land Cruiser is ready to help you conquer it with ease. Challenging terrain requires a different driving strategy. Multi-terrain Select is an innovative system that helps control wheelspin and brake lockup to optimize driving performance over five of the most common off-road surfaces: Rock, Rock & Dirt, Mogul, Loose Rock and Mud & Sand. When your off-road travels get tough, Crawl Control (CRAWL)8 is here to help. This advanced system automatically modulates the throttle and brakes on five low-speed settings, so you can keep your focus on steering through difficult terrain.

Safety

The newly developed Toyota Safety SenseTM P (TSS-P)9 is an active safety package that combines Pre-Collision System10 with Pedestrian Detection11 (PCS w/PD), Lane Departure Alert (LDA)12, Auto High Beams (AHB)13 and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC)14 to help assist you. TSS-P's comprehensive features create in-the-moment safety designed to support your awareness and decision-making on the road.

Land Cruiser comes standard with ten airbags15, including driver and front passenger Advanced Airbag System, driver and front passenger seat-mounted side airbags, second-row outward seat-mounted side airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags and all-row Roll-sensing Side Curtain Airbags (RSCA) with cutoff switch.16 To help provide extra occupant protection when the vehicle is struck from the side, steel beams are located inside all doors, and are designed to absorb energy and reduce the chance of intrusion into the cabin.

8Crawl Control is designed for driving on difficult terrain at low speeds. It assists the driver by controlling acceleration and braking, allowing the driver to focus on steering. The Toyota Land Cruiser is designed to meet off-road driving requirements, but off-roading is inherently dangerous. Always wear seatbelts. See Owner's Manual for details.
9Drivers should always be responsible for their own safe driving. Please always pay attention to your surroundings and drive safely. Depending on the conditions of roads, vehicles, weather, etc., the system(s) may not work as intended. See Owner's Manual for details.
10The Pre-Collision System is designed to help reduce the crash speed and damage in certain frontal collisions only. It is not a collision-avoidance system and is not a substitute for safe and attentive driving. System effectiveness depends on many factors, such as speed, driver input and road conditions. See Owner's Manual for details.
11The Pedestrian Detection system is designed to detect a pedestrian ahead of the vehicle, determine if impact is imminent and to help reduce impact speed. It is not a substitute for safe and attentive driving. System effectiveness depends on many factors, such as speed, size and position of pedestrians, driver input and weather, light and road conditions. See Owner's Manual for details.
12Lane Departure Alert is designed to read lane markers under certain conditions, and provide visual and audible alerts when lane departure is detected. It is not a collision-avoidance system or a substitute for safe and attentive driving. Effectiveness depends on many factors. See Owner's Manual for details.
13Auto High Beams operate at speeds above 21 mph. Factors such as a dirty windshield, weather, lighting and terrain limit effectiveness, requiring the driver to manually operate the high beams. See Owner's Manual for details.
14Dynamic Radar Cruise Control is designed to assist the driver and is not a substitute for safe and attentive driving practices. System effectiveness depends on many factors, such as weather, traffic and road conditions. See Owner's Manual for details.
15All the airbag systems are Supplemental Restraint Systems. All airbags (if installed) are designed to inflate only under certain conditions and in certain types of severe collisions: typically, frontal and knee airbags inflate in frontal collisions, side torso and side curtain airbags inflate in side collisions and roll-sensing curtain airbags inflate at a severe roll angle or roll rate. To decrease the risk of injury from an inflating airbag, always wear seatbelts, sit upright in the middle of the seat as far back as possible and do not lean against the door. Do not put objects in front of an airbag or around the seatback. Do not use a rearward-facing child seat in any front passenger seat. The force of an inflating airbag may cause serious injury or death. See your Owner's Manual for further information/warnings.
16Do not use a rearward-facing child seat in any front passenger seat without switching off the passenger-side airbag. Please see your Owner's Manual for details.
